20th Anniversary Spotlight Series: Coach Natalie Campbell

1) How long have you been involved with Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake?
  • I've been coaching for 3 years.
2) What drew you to the program to get involved?
  • I heard about the program being offered at the school I worked for. One of my fourth graders sounded like the perfect candidate to sign up, and I really wanted to encourage her. I became a coach so that she would join, and I loved it. I've been coaching ever since.
3) Why do you think it's so important for girls today to have access to this program?
  • This program provides girls with confidence and the tools to put into their social-emotional toolkits to help them thrive as individuals. It teaches them to love themselves, embrace others' differences, and push past their limits.

4) What fun memory would you like to share?
  • At the first 5K with my current school, it poured, but we put on our ponchos and hit the ground running, literally. Once we made it to the finish line we danced and sang at the top of our lungs in the mud. We got on stage, did line dances, and took pictures. It was magical, messy, and amazing.
