Board Member Spotlight: Michelle Webb
We’re thrilled to welcome Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake’s newest board member, Michelle Webb! Michelle brings with her a deep passion for supporting girls' growth, happiness, and well-being. Values that align beautifully with our mission and vision. We’re excited for you to get to know her better through this spotlight and learn what inspires her to be part of the GOTRGC community.
1. What drew you to get involved with Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake now? I was formally introduced to the board opportunity with GOTRGC through boardConsult but I've known about the nonprofit through friends that have participated in events. Once I had a chance to look at the mission, it was clear to me that my values were aligned with GOTR. Supporting girls in their happiness and health is something I'm incredibly passionate about. The sooner we can support and make an impact on girls, the more opportunities they will have to thrive now and in the future.
2. Why do you think it's so important for girls today to have access to this program?
As I'm learning more about the programs offered to the girls, I'm blown away by the holistic approach that GOTR is taking to support their physical, mental, and emotional health. Providing access to these programs at an early stage in life will certainly build a foundation for them as they grow and determine their next steps. I think the world could be a much kinder and compassionate place if we learn to take care of ourselves early on in life. Grateful to be a part of this journey.
3. What are some of your hobbies or interests?
As an Executive who spends my time listening to our employees and delivering personal development programs, my personal hobbies are centered around things that challenge me creatively and help me recharge. I love learning about human behavior, and this means I read and write a lot. I also enjoy painting and always have a puzzle in the process at home. But most of my time is spent on basketball courts watching my son play or traveling to Chicago to visit my daughter. My kids are my favorite people.
