GOTRGC 5K Volunteer Spotlight: Perdue Organization for Women

We’re excited to present, Perdue Organization for Women (POW), for our Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake 5K Volunteer Spotlight! Season after season, POW has volunteered and spread joy at our Eastern Shore 5Ks, and we truly appreciate their support. Read their group spotlight answers below!

Question 1: What motivated you to get involved and support Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake?

Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake’s mission aligns so well with what we value within the Perdue Organization for Women; encouraging women and girls to recognize their strengths, build confidence, and support one another. We love the opportunity to extend that mission into our community and help create a positive experience for the next generation of young women.

Question 2: What do you most look forward to on 5K day?

The energy at the finish line! There is something incredibly special about seeing the girls accomplish a goal they’ve worked toward and watching how proud they are of themselves. Being there to cheer them on and celebrate that accomplishment is easily one of the best parts of the day.

Question 3: How does volunteering together strengthen your group?

Volunteering gives us an opportunity to connect outside of our normal work environment around something that has a meaningful purpose. Working together to support our community strengthens our relationships with one another, and reminds us that the impact we can make as a group extends far beyond the workplace.

Question 4: What do you hope GOTRGC participants remember most about the 5K experience?

We hope they remember how capable they felt when they crossed that finish line, and how many people were there believing in them, and cheering them on. More than anything, we hope they carry that confidence with them long after the 5K is over.

Question 5: Why is supporting GOTRGC important to your group?

As an organization focused on empowering and supporting women, we believe that work can start long before someone enters the workforce. Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake helps young girls develop confidence, resilience, healthy relationships, and a belief in their own abilities. Supporting that mission gives us the opportunity to invest in young women in our own communities and hopefully help build a foundation they’ll carry with them throughout their lives.

We want to thank Perdue Organization for Women for celebrating each participant’s courage and confidence, and empowering them at the 5K! If you’re interested in volunteering for any of our Fall 2026 5Ks, our applications are open. Register today and witness kindness, perseverance, and teamwork in action!
