GOTRGC Alum Spotlight: Kelsey Racette

 
Meet Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake alum Kelsey Racette.
 
1. When did you participate in Girls on the Run?
 I participated in GOTRGC in 3-5th grade at Central Elementary.
 
2. What was your favorite part of Girls on the Run?
My favorite part of GOTR was how it made fitness and running fun. It shaped me into the person I am today as it was the foundation of my athletic career, a major part of my life, keeping me fit and building friendships through sports. 
 
3. What is something you learned at Girls on the Run that still sticks with you today?
GOTR taught the importance of taking care of your body, challenging yourself, and most importantly enjoying the process. 
 
4. What have you accomplished since your experience with Girls on the Run?
Since my experience with GOTR in elementary school, I have graduated from UC San Diego with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and beginning in the fall I will attend Stanford University for my MS in Mechanical Engineering. 
 
5. Why do you think it's important to share GOTR alum stories?
It is important to share GOTR alum stories to show current and future young girls that the possibilities are endless. 
 
6. What are some of your hobbies?
A lot of my hobbies revolve around being active. Some include: climbing, surfing, mountain biking, hiking, camping. And more recently I have started running again, I just ran my first half marathon!
