We’re excited to share T. Rowe Price’s spotlight! Because of their encouragement and cheers, girls will continue moving mountains, long after the 5K finish line. Read their spotlight answers below!
Question 1: Please share with us what being part of the community means to T. Rowe Price.
WAVE is T. Rowe Price’s women’s business resource group, bringing associates together to connect, support one another, and make a positive impact. To us, being part of the community means showing up, building meaningful relationships, and supporting organizations whose work reflects values that are important to our members.
Our relationship with Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake (GOTRGC) is a wonderful example of that. Whether we’re volunteering at the 5Ks, or supporting other events and fundraisers, our members genuinely enjoy being part of the incredible energy and spirit of GOTRGC.
Question 2: What’s a favorite memory or moment with volunteering for GOTRGC?
Tova Miller: One of my most treasured memories is from my very first GOTRGC 5K. I was stationed on our T. Rowe Price Cheer Team spot near a hill, standing in the rain, cheering on the runners who came through. What struck me was watching the girls transform as they reached us.
Most broke into big smiles and picked up their pace as they heard our cheers; and for the girls who had just about had enough, sometimes fighting back a few tears, our encouragement seemed to give them exactly the boost they needed to keep going. Rain and all, you could genuinely feel the energy. It was so meaningful and so much fun that I later brought my husband along to volunteer at another event, and he loved being part of it, too.

Question 3: What do you love most about seeing GOTRGC in action and the experience it creates for girls?
Megen Frierson: I love seeing the confidence and empowerment the program builds in the girls. One experience that really stood out to me was attending a GOTRGC Limitless Potential Breakfast, and hearing several of the girls speak on a panel about what the program meant to them.
Seeing these girls speak confidently, share their experiences, and talk about how GOTRGC has impacted them was incredibly powerful. It was a great reminder that the program is about so much more than running; it gives girls a space to build confidence, develop meaningful connections, find their voices, and recognize their own potential.
Question 4: Why is it important for T. Rowe Price to give employees the opportunity to get involved and make a difference in the community?
It’s important because it creates experiences that are meaningful both personally and professionally. Volunteering gives us a chance to step outside of our everyday roles, work alongside colleagues we may not otherwise meet, and use our time and talents in ways that have an impact beyond the workplace.
These shared experiences can strengthen relationships, foster a greater sense of purpose, and remind us of what we can accomplish when we come together. For us, opportunities like those we have with GOTRGC allow us to turn our commitment to supporting and empowering girls into action, and have a lot of fun together along the way!
We’re very grateful to T. Rowe Price for cheering on the girls as they pursue their goals. If you have a desire to support and encourage the next generation of girls, consider volunteering at any of our upcoming 5Ks!
