New Board Member Spotlight: Moyah Panda

We’re excited to welcome new board member Moyah Panda to the Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake! Moyah’s passion for empowering young girls, paired with her love of running, makes her a wonderful fit for our mission. She brings a thoughtful and grounded perspective on the importance of confidence, voice, and presence in today’s world. We’re so excited for you to get to know her through her spotlight!

1. What drew you to get involved with Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake now?

The intersection of my love of running with making a difference in a young girl's life. In addition, the mission and vision of Girls on the Run is near and dear to me because it is so important that we foster an environment where girls are taught how to navigate the world and take up space.

2. Why do you think it's so important for girls today to have access to this program?

I think with the rise of social media and computer/phone use, it's important for girls today to know that they are good enough just the way they are. I also think it is imperative that they are taught the power of their voice, to have confidence in their abilities and to know that the sky's the limit. Furthermore, programs like Girls on the Run, which are interactive, allow the participants to strengthen their communication skills while honing their natural talents.

3. What are some of your hobbies or interests?

Cooking, reading, and spending as much time with my family as possible. It's sometimes difficult prioritizing your personal life with work responsibilities and other commitments, but I try to be intentional with showing up to athletic games, band concerts, family game nights, and overall just being present.
