1. What drew you to get involved with Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake now?
My connection to Girls on the Run began several years ago when I had the opportunity to observe a coaching session at a school. Seeing the program in action—the encouragement, confidence-building, and genuine joy among the girls—left a lasting impression on me. Since then, I have continued to engage with the organization through community events and the inspirational breakfasts, and I have seen firsthand the powerful impact the program has on young girls. At this point in my life and career, serving on the board feels like a meaningful opportunity to contribute my leadership experience and passion for youth development to help expand the program’s reach and impact across the Greater Chesapeake region.
2. Why do you think it's so important for girls today to have access to this program?
Girls today face many pressures—social, academic, and digital—that can challenge their confidence and sense of identity. Programs like Girls on the Run provide a supportive environment where girls can develop self-confidence, leadership skills, and resilience at a critical stage in their lives. I especially appreciate the program’s focus on social and emotional learning, which helps girls understand their strengths, build healthy relationships, and learn how to navigate challenges with confidence. Equipping girls with these tools early empowers them to become strong, compassionate leaders in their schools, communities, and future careers.
3. What are some of your hobbies or interests?
I enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors, including skiing, swimming, and exploring new places through travel. I also love visiting sports stadiums and attending live sporting events with my family. Reading is another passion of mine, and I participate in several book clubs that allow me to connect with others while continuing to learn and grow. Most importantly, I enjoy mentoring and supporting youth and community initiatives that help young people build confidence and leadership skills.
