Become a Coach

Coaches are the heart of our program! Each season, two or more volunteer coaches inspire and guide a team through our tried-and-true curriculum. If you're ready to directly make an impact, then this role is for you.

Become a junior Coach

Junior Coaches are needed to inspire the next generation! Our Junior Coach program is for high school girls aged 16 to 18. Beyond serving as a role model to program participants, Junior Coaches work alongside Coaches, strengthening their leadership skills and gaining a sense of belonging and purpose.

5K Volunteers

Our end of season 5K celebration provides a tangible sense of accomplishment to participants. To help make the experience one to remember, there are many opportunities to get involved.

  • Bib Pick-Up
  • Volunteer Check-In
  • Water Station
  • Happy Hair Station
  • Bling Your Bib Station
  • Course Marshals
  • Start and Finish line Support
  • Post-Race Refreshments
  • 5K Buddy opportunities, where we invite family members and/or trusted friends to run alongside participants. 

Our Fall 5K celebration will be held at University of Maryland, Baltimore County. 

For our Eastern Shore teams, we will also hold a local 5K celebration.

Group Opportunities

Are you part of a group or organization that wants to make an impact on our community? Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake would love to have you get involved with our program. Here are few ways you can make a difference while working together.

  • Volunteer together at a Girl on the Run 5K event – from cheer teams to water stations to handing out postrace refreshments at the finish line and more – there are numerous ways for you to help bring this joyful end of season celebration to life!
  • Support with one-day volunteer opportunities.
  • Volunteer for or financially support a team for a season.

One-Time Opportunities

Project or Skill-Based Opportunities

Our council is seeking volunteers who can support on a project-by-project basis. Our current needs are: graphic design, photography and videography.

Internships

Our council can create internship opportunities on an individual basis, helping you get the most out of your experience. Focus areas: volunteer recruitment, program support, marketing, communications, social media, graphic design, videography, operations, special events and fundraising.
