1. What drew you to get involved with Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake now?

My journey as a collegiate and national team athlete taught me that sports are about so much more than the scoreboard.  Sports are about building a foundation of resiliency and self-advocacy. I’ve spent my life experiencing how physical movement translates into mental toughness, and as I looked for ways to give back, I realized there is no better place to instill these values than during a girl's most formative years. I want to ensure that every girl in our community has access to a space where her 'limitless potential' isn't just a slogan, but a reality she practices every single day.

2. Why do you think it's so important for girls today to have access to this program?

The data is clear: at a critical age, many girls experience a significant drop in confidence and physical activity levels. Today’s social landscape adds even more pressure to conform to specific stereotypes. Girls on the Run is a vital intervention because it flips the script. It uses physical activity (something I know firsthand builds discipline and drive) as a vehicle for social-emotional learning. I believe when a girl realizes she can run a 5K, she also realizes she can set a goal, manage her emotions, and stand up for herself and others. We aren't just raising runners.  We are raising the next generation of women who know how to navigate life's hurdles with a 'heart and sole' approach.

3. What are some of your hobbies or interests?

Outside of my professional pursuits, I am an avid fan of metabolic workouts, swimming, skiing, reading series books, and being a personal Lyft driver for our kid. I also love exploring new eats here in Maryland and traveling near and far.. I find that my best 'big picture' thinking happens when I’m active, so I try to make movement a part of every day, whether it’s a tough workout in the gym, or a grueling training in the pool.
