GOTRGC Team Spotlight: Brock Bridge Elementary School

Join us in sending a “Girl Power” energy award to Brock Bridge Elementary School’s Girls on the Run Team! We’re excited to share Coach Amanda, Nicole, Emma, and Haley’s fun journey into coaching, and their excitement for the program, in their team spotlight.

1. What inspired you to be a coach for the program?

Growing up, I loved team sports and the relationships they built, even though running was never my favorite activity. When our school started Girls on the Run last year, I was excited by the opportunity to coach girls as they grew in confidence, built meaningful friendships, and developed a love of movement. I especially value the mentorship aspect of the program, and the way girls encourage one another across grade levels.

2. If someone asked you why they should coach, what would you tell them?

You should coach Girls on the Run because there’s no better way to pour into your community than by building relationships with the girls within it! We get to teach our girls simple, timeless truths about their beautiful individuality, their potential to influence the world around them, and how to use that influence for good. Coaching GOTR has truly become a highlight of my week because I get to watch these girls grow in confidence, discover what makes them special, and experience the joy and excitement of what this program offers. Being part of that journey really is SO MUCH FUN!

3. Why do you think it’s important for girls today to have access to this program?

I think it's important for girls today to have access to the GOTR program because it helps build their confidence, self-esteem, and ability to persevere when things get tough! This program gives them the opportunity to grow those skills while also making friends and pushing themselves to reach an exciting goal.

Thank you so much to the Brock Bridge Elementary School Coaches for leading their practices with such passion and care!
