New Team Member Spotlight, Jalini Persaud!

Meet Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake's Newest Team Member: Jalini Persaud!

1) What drew you to the program to get involved now?

I was drawn to working with Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake (GOTRGC) because I love creating meaningful change. GOTRGC directly helps our community and their impact is incredible, and I wanted to get involved now because I value our shared mission and commitment to helping girls achieve their goals. I love working with social impact organizations and I find purpose in helping people, and I knew that this was the place for me to be.

2) Why do you think it's so important for girls today to have access to Girls on the Run programming?

I believe that it’s so important for girls to have access to Girls on the Run programming because girls face so many challenges and systemic barriers, and GOTRGC works hard to eliminate those barriers. They provide essential services, role models, and support for participants; and teach the importance of creating friendships and building self-confidence. It's important for girls to know that they have the power and capability of achieving anything they want in life, and to know that they have a strong support system, and friends to cheer them on. I believe that these programs invest in the girls' futures, and provide a healthy environment for them to thrive, and to believe in themselves and their dreams.

3) What are some of your interests or hobbies?

I love to paint and be creative. I enjoy oil painting, ceramic making, crocheting, cake decorating, and scrapbooking. I also love writing, being with my friends and family, and volunteering!
